- At Lakshadweep, Prakash Javadekar inaugurated Atal Paryavaran Bhavan On 19th February 2021, Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Prakash Javadekar reached Kavaratti in Lakshadweep on four day visit. He inaugurated the Atal Paryavaran Bhavan. He will take part in various official programmes at Suheli, Kadmat and Bangaram islands.
- On 20th February, World Day of Social Justice is observed The United Nations World Day of Social Justice is observed on 20th February every year since 2009. Main aim of the day is to recognize the need to promote and tackle issues of social justice such as poverty, exclusion, gender equality, unemployment, human rights and social protections. Focus on the goal of achieving full employment and support for social integration. Encourage people to look at how social justice affects poverty eradication. The theme of World Day of Social Justice 2021 is ‘A Call for Social Justice in the Digital Economy”.
- To spread awareness on the benefits of e-mobility, “Go Electric” campaign launched The Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, Shri Nitin Gadkari on 19th February 2021, launched the “Go Electric” campaign to spread awareness on the benefits of e-mobility and EV Charging Infrastructure as well as electric cooking in India. Bureau of Energy Efficiency, under the aegis of the Ministry of Power has been mandated to undertake an awareness drive for promoting Public Charging, e-mobility & its ecosystem.
- On 20th February, World Pangolin Day is celebrated The World Pangolin Day is celebrated on the Third Saturday of February every year. In 2021, the annual World Pangolin Day is being celebrated on 20th February 2020. It marks the 10th edition of the event. The day aims to raise awareness about these unique mammals and speed up conservation efforts. Pangolin numbers are rapidly declining in Asia and Africa.
- AYUSH certification received by ‘Coronil’ The Divya Coronil medicine by Patanjali has received the certification from AYUSH Ministry in accordance with the WHO certification norms. Coronil has now been certified as a drug which can be used as supporting measure to fight COVID-19 and as an immunity-booster. The drug has received the Certificate of Pharmaceutical Product from the Ayush section of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. Patanjali has also released a booklet with nine-peer-reviewed papers that certifies the efficacy of Coronil.
- In Kolkata, Home Minister Amit Shah attends “Shauryanjali” programme On 19th February 2021, Home Minister Amit Shah attended the programme ‘Shauryanjali’ organized to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose at the National Library of Kolkata. The Union Home Minister also flagged off a cycle rally. Three teams, namely Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Rasbihari Bose and Khudiram Bose are participating in the rally which will create awareness in West Bengal about the sacrifices made by the state’s revolutionaries in the freedom movement.
- On 19th February, 6th Soil Health Card Day is observed Every year in India, the Soil Health Card Day is observed on 19th February to commemorate the launch of the Soil Health Card Scheme, and create awareness about the benefits of the scheme. 2021 marks the sixth year of the launch of the Soil Health Card Scheme. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Soil Health Card Scheme on 19th February, 2015 at Suratgarh in Rajasthan. The scheme aims at issuing soil health cards to farmers every two years so as to provide a basis to address nutritional deficiencies in soil. The scheme ensures additional income to farmers by an increase in yields and it also promotes sustainable farming.
- Pugakur-Thrissur Power Transmission Project inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi On 19th February 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated POWERGRID’s 320 kV 2000 MW Pugalur (Tamil Nadu) – Thrissur (Kerela) HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) power transmission project in presence of Governor Arif Mohammad Khan and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
- To promote health research, CSIR inks MoU with Bill and Melinda Gates foundation The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to support the development, conduct and promotion of health research in India. Terms of MoU is to identify opportunities to initiate scientific and technological collaborations. Main focus is on developing and testing new prevention, therapies and interventions that can help concerns that affect India and other developing countries.
- To expand immunization coverage, Intensified Mission Indradhanush 3.0 launched On 19th February 2021, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan launched Intensified Mission Indradhanush 3.0, (IMI 3.0) to expand immunization coverage across the country. It will have two rounds starting from the 22nd February and 22nd March and will be conducted in pre-identified 250 districts and urban areas across 29 states and UTs in the country. Both rounds will be for 15 days each. The focus of the Intensified Mission Indradhanush 3.0 will be the chidlren and pregnant women who have missed their vaccine during the COVID-19 pandemic.
