- PM FME scheme launched The Ministry of Food Processing Industries, earlier launched in all India Pradhan Mantri Formalization of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PM FME) Scheme. The Scheme is to be implemented between 2020-2021 and 2024-2025. It is to implemented at an outlay of Rs. 10000 crores. Recently, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries agreed to work with the Ministry of Rural Development to implement the PM FME scheme.
- MoU signed between India-Japan for Academic and Research Cooperation The Union Cabinet recently apprised a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between India and Japan. The MoU was signed between National Atmospheric Research Laboratory that operates under Department of Space, Government of India and the Research Institute for Sustainable Humanosphere called the RISH that operates under the Kyoto University of Japan. In the MoU, they will exchange scientific materials, information, publications, students, faculty members and researchers. The MoU will allow the countries to utilize the facilities such as Middle and Upper atmosphere radar in Japan, Mesosphere-Stratosphere-Troposphere radar, Equatorial Atmosphere Radar in Indonesia.
- IRDAI guidelines on Trade Credit Insurance The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) recently issued draft guidelines for general insurance companies. The guidelines mainly focus on credit insurance products with customized covers for MSME’s. The guidelines will enable general insurers to offer trade insurance covers to financial institutions (mainly licensed Banks). This will help companies manage their risks overseas, manage non-payment risks associated with trade financing portfolio and open up access to new markets.
- Madhukranti Portal and Honey Corners launched The Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar launched the Madhukranti portal and Honey Corners of NAFED to promote the Honey Mission in India. The Madhukranti portal is an initiative of National Bee Board. It is operated under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission.
- GoI appointed new Chairman and MD of SIDBI The Government of India recently appointed S Ramann as the Chairman and Managing Director of Small Industries and Development Bank of India (SIDBI). The appointment is for a period of three years. The name of the chairman and Managing Director was recommended by Bank Board Bureau. Bank Board Bureau is an autonomous body of Government of India. It is an advisory body. It assists banks with the strategies to deal with non-performing assets and bad loans. The Banks Board Bureau was set up in 2016. It works towards reforms in Public Sector Bank as recommended by P J Nayak Committee.
- Tribal Health Collaborative “Anamaya” launched by Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Arjun Munda The Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Dr. Harsh Vardhan and the Union Minister of Tribal Affairs, Shri Arjun Munda jointly launched ‘Anamaya’, the Tribal Health Collaborative on 7th April 2021. Anamaya is a multi-stakeholder initiative to enhance the health and nutrition status of the tribal communities of India by converging efforts of various Government agencies and organizations. The initiative is supported by Piramal Foundation and Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
- Vivo ropes in Virat Kohli as Brand Ambassador Chinese smartphone major Vivo has appointed Indian cricketer Virat Kohli as its brand Ambassador. With this association, Vivo aims to reach the millennials and technologically driven consumers. Apart from this, associating with a sports figure will help the company reach a wider audience, ahead of the IPL 2021.
- RBI Consumer Confidence Index The Reserve Bank of India recently released the report the report of Consumer Confidence Survey. The Survey was conducted in major cities of the country over 5000 respondents. The Consumer Confidence Index declined from 55.5 points in January 2021 to 53.1 points in March 2021. The Future expectations dipped from 117.1 in January 2021 to 108.8 in March 2021.
- World Bank-IMF launch Climate Change platform for poor countries The World Bank and International Monetary Fund have launched a platform to advise the poor countries on funding got conservation and climate activities. Both the financial organizations will use the platform to factor climate change into negotiations about reducing debt burdens of poor countries.
- Robo Plant: Technology to interact with plants The scientists from Singapore have developed a technology to interact with plants. The technology has been named as “Robo Plant”. The technology helps to control the plants using smart phone applications. In future, the technology can be further used to enable farmers to detect diseases in plants. The plants can tell farmers that they are hit by disease through this technology.
