Special Research Fund Doctoral Scholarships Details
Benefits
- A bench fee of EUR 310 per month of research in Ghent
- Ph. D. scholarship for 24 months
- EUR 8,000 as travel budget
Eligibility Criteria
- The candidate must belong to a developing country
- Have a local Ph. D. supervisor at the partner university or research center in the South
- Students have to pursue a Ph. D. degree from a well-known institute or university in a developing country
- Candidates have to be able to work full-time on the Ph. D. project for a span of 24 months at the partner university in a selected developing country (South).
Selection Process
- The scientific/ scholarly potential of the promoter’s research groups and the partnership will be in between Ghent University and the local institute the scientific/scholarly potential of the local institute
- Eligibility criteria of the candidate
- The doctoral project
- The significance of the research topic for development & capacity building.
Rules & Regulations
- Applying candidates need to dedicate a maximum of 10 % of their time (full-time appointment) to other tasks (teaching and other tasks)
- The proposals need to be jointly offered by a competitor, a promoter (supervisor) at Ghent University, and a supervisor at the partner university
- Candidates who have to start at the same time should end up with a research stay of at least 3 up to a maximum of 12 months in Ghent
- Minimum of 24 months of a locally funded research stay in the South have to be registered in between the first and last research stay in Ghent
- No limitations are required in the field of research, nevertheless, decisions will be given to topics that are relevant for the development
- In between 1st October 2021 and 28th February 2022, students need to start their first research stay in Ghent.
