Benefits

Postdoctoral Training Phase:

  • Annual support of a USD 70,000 salary for the initial year
  • USD 20,000 expense allowance for a maximum of four years.

Faculty Phase:

  • USD 250,000 in research funding
  • USD 20,000 expense allowance per year, paid via a non-renewable grant to the institution for a maximum of 4 years.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Need to be a basic science researcher and physician-scientist in the biomedical and life science disciplines
  • Must be from any gender, ethnic, racial, and other groups underrepresented in the life sciences, along with those people from disadvantaged backgrounds especially women of any ethnic or racial group at the same time any individual identifying as Pacific Islander, or American Indian / Hispanic, Black, Native Hawaiian / Alaska Native
  • Must be no more than 16 months of postdoctoral research experience
  • Need to hold a Ph. D and/or MD (or equivalent) from a research institution in the U.S., which must be conferred by the start of the scheme term
  • Have to been taken to join a laboratory as a postdoctoral researcher at a research institution located in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) at the time of the application due date.

Selection Process

The selection of the candidates depends upon the information and documents submitted by the people.

Documents

  • One additional letter of reference
  • A list of publications with statements of importance
  • A curriculum vitae as well as a list of prior trainees provided by the postdoctoral training mentor
  • A statement of support with a training plan granted by the postdoctoral training mentor
  • An evaluative statement furnished by the candidate’s research training mentor.

Guidelines

  • For the purposes of this award, research activities through residency or clinical fellowship are not considered postdoctoral training
  • Non-U.S. citizens and candidates with other nationalities should have a degree from a research institution in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico)
  • The date or anticipated date of conferral of the doctoral degree need be on or after September 1, 2018, and before January 19, 2021
  • The postdoctoral training mentor need to hold a tenured or tenure-track position (or equivalent) at an institution in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico)
  • U.S. citizens must have a degree from a research institution in the U.S. (including Puerto Rico) or an international research institution.
